General Audience Trainings
Crisis Prevention/Intervention
This training will introduce participants
to a safe non-harmful behavior management system designed to help Behavioral
Health staff provide for the best possible care, welfare and safety and security of assaultive,
disruptive or out of control persons. The system developed by the Crisis
Prevention Institute (CPI) emphasizes
verbal crisis intervention and de-escalation, in addition to non-violent
physical intervention techniques that protect the staff member as well
as the person in recovery. Direct care staff and supervisors are encouraged to register

The Cycles of Violence
Series
This series, suitable for general audiences, is comprised of 8 to
10 training sessions per year that are introductory and present fundamental information regarding
trauma theory and the impact of trauma on adults, children, staff and
organizations, as well as strategies for providing services that are
trauma-informed. As much as possible individuals in recovery and family members
are included as presenters. Click here

The Issues and
Resources (I&R) Series
The Issues and
Resources is intended to address issues related to
recovery from mental health and substance use challenges. The courses presented range from introductory
information and overview workshops to instruction in how to use/implement

Recovery
Foundation, Enhanced Recovery and Resiliency Trainings
These trainings introduce key
concepts and basic skills in helping to motivate change as the behavioral
health system transforms to a more recovery-oriented system of care. People from across the system, including
providers, people in recovery, clinicians, family members and administrators, participate in creating and implementing
these trainings. People who are
interested in exploring the principles and practices that drive system transformation
are encouraged to participate. Specific trainings include Recovery Foundations
Training, Person-Centered and Resilience.

Resilience
Trainings
As
part of the DBH/MRS System Transformation initiative, BHTEN offers Resilience
Training. This training was designed by
a workgroup including BHTEN, DBH/MRS, Youth, Parents and Providers. The intent
is to provide a basic, introductory understanding of Resilience, its origins,
its expressions across the lifespan and some methods to enhance resilience
pathways in individuals especially young people. This
one-day training is offered once a month and is open to parents, providers,
