Case Management Activities: These trainings are designed to provide a variety of case management specialties with information and skills needed to support recovery and resiliency. Case management activities are designed with input from the Department of Behavioral Health/ Intellectual disAbilities Services (DBH/IDS), family members, people in recovery and those staff providing services. These trainings meet expectations of DBH/IDS as well as regulations established by the Commonwealth’s Office of Mental Health/Substance Abuse Services. Children’s Training Initiatives: BHTEN provides training and other educational activities for the Children-Serving Systems in Philadelphia. The scope and content of these trainings are determined by the expressed needs of providers, family members, the Youth Committee and/or the Philadelphia DBH/MRS. While some offerings are designed for a specific audience, these trainings are generally open to all those involved with young people including parents. Some training topics have included: Cyber Bullying Prevention, Becoming Trauma Informed, Working with GLBT Youth, and Addiction & Trauma. Drug and Alcohol Trainings: BHTEN along with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs (BDAP) sponsors several different trainings designed to help individuals maintain their drug and alcohol certifications. In addition, some of these trainings are mandated so that agencies can maintain their licensures. All of these trainings are pre-approved by the Pennsylvania Certification Board for PCB Approved credits. Click herefor more information

 

General Audience Trainings: These trainings, unlike those educational events designed for targeted audiences, are offered to the entire behavioral health community including providers, DBH/MRS staff, family members and people in recovery. Some trainings are free while others are provided at a nominal fee. Note that for paid trainings, registration forms will be available for you to download whereas for free trainings, you will be directed to the BHTEN On-line Registration Portal. Recovery Foundation, Enhanced Recovery and Resilience: These trainings introduce key concepts and basic skills in helping to motivate change as the behavioral health system transforms to a more recovery-oriented system of care.  People from across the system, including providers, people in recovery, clinicians, family members and administrators, participate in creating and implementing these trainings.  People who are interested in exploring the principles and practices that drive system  transformation are encouraged to participate. Specific trainings include Recovery Foundations Training, Person Centered and Resilience.

Trauma-Training Initiatives: This flagship training initiative, launched in 1998 is intended to provide basic trauma-informed information, strategies and practices as well as more advanced training that includes trauma-informed and trauma-specific interventions and skills that have been shown to be effective for helping and supporting persons who need to recover from trauma. Residential Training Series: Residential training initiatives are designed to provide up-to-date-information regarding system transformation and how to enhance and then provide recovery-oriented residential services. The purpose of the residential trainings is to enhance the skills of staff working in residential settings with an emphasis on supporting recovery and becoming trauma-informed. The two residential series offered by BHTEN are 1) The Mental Health Residential Training series titled: Recovery in a Residential Setting and the Recovery House Training series, Houses for Recovery: Tools for Success.
