Residential Trainings

These trainings are designed to provide up-to-date-information regarding system transformation and how to provide and enhance recovery-oriented residential services. The purpose of the residential trainings is to enhance the skills of staff working in residential settings with an emphasis on supporting recovery and becoming trauma-informed.  Specific learning objectives have been developed for each session and will be addressed by the presenters throughout each session.

 

 

Mental House Residential Series

Recovery in a Residential Setting:  The primary goal of this 10week--Fall series is to enhance the skills of staff working directly with individuals within a residential setting who have behavioral health diagnoses. The series is presented in the framework of a Learning Community model and is intended to promote the professional development of participants.

topics for this series vary slightly year to year and may include topics such as:

Mental Illness Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Co-Occurring Disorders, Moving from Treatment Planning to Recovery Planning, Developing a Vibrant Peer Culture, Community Inclusion, HIV/AIDS, Medical Issues Common to Behavioral Health Populations, Trauma- Informed Practice, Cultural Competence, Role Clarification in a Recovery Context, Crisis Management, Stages of Change and WRAP

 

Recovery House Series

Houses for Recovery: Tools for Success:  The intent of this 10 week--Spring series is to enhance the skills of staff working in recovery house settings with emphasis on supporting recovery, becoming trauma informed and culturally aware. Strategies will be presented that support client-centered practice, empowerment, collaboration and wellness care. This series is also presented in the framework of a Learning Community model with the goal to promote the professional development of participants. 

The topics that will be presented are: Mental Illness & Addictions: Understanding the Basics, Assessment and Treatment Issues in Recovery, Cultural Diversity, Co-occurring Diagnoses: Trauma-Informed Support, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), Pharmacology and Drugs of Abuse, Forensic Issues and Recovery, Recovery, Domestic Violence, Medical Issues, HIV/AIDS, Confidentiality, Ethics & Boundaries, 302 Protocols and Reporting,  Recovery House Management Issues, Standards & Rules, Financial Resources and DPW, Post Recovery Reality, Taking Care of the Caregiver, Plane of Life and graduation
