This intensive training will provide a thorough review of the theory and application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) followed by 6-month group consultation. Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to: explain the cognitive model, describe the general principles of CBT, discuss cases from the point of view of a cognitive behavioral therapist, appropriately structure a CBT session, and apply a range of CBT techniques in the treatment of their clients.

Learning Objectives: 

DAY 1

Describe the cognitive model of psychotherapy;
Explain the general principles of CBT;
Appropriately structure a CBT session;
DAY 2

Integrate the use of homework into a CBT session;
Describe how to catch automatic thoughts and discuss them in session;
Discuss the overall flow and structure of the CBT model and its importance;
DAY 3

Apply exposures in the treatment of anxiety disorders;
Integrate the use of behavioral experiments in the treatment of clients;
Identify how to use pros and cons in effective CBT;
DAY 4

Use activity monitoring in the treatment of depression;
Teach effective problem solving skills;
Identify and process a client’s core belief in session;
DAY 5

Identify meaningful, CBT informed goals;
Help clients to catch, check, and change thoughts;
Use case conceptualization to tailor interventions for a client;
DAY 6

Provide examples of each component of the cognitive model;
Conceptualize cases from the point of view of a cognitive therapist;
Incorporate CBT treatment in group settings;
Discuss the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale (CTRS) to evaluate CBT

Mobile therapists and clinical supervisors in IBHS programs.

Completion Requirements: 

Participants must attend each of the 6 sessions, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates will be emailed to participants within 30 business days of training. Certificates of Attendance will be available to download from the Learning Hub once the evaluation is successfully submitted.
