Only Masters’ Level Clinicians Trained and Certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy Through the DBH Trauma Transformation Unit’s Training Initiative May Register for this Training; Includes having had 4 days of PE Training & completion of two treatment cases supervised by a certified PE supervisor

This workshop is dedicated to updating and further advancing therapists’ skills when using Prolonged Exposure therapy for PTSD. We will provide an update of the research supporting PE and provide additional training in the areas of the treatment that therapists feel weakest around.

Learning Objectives: 

By the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

1. Provide an updated review of the research behind PE

2. Review the core elements of PE

3. Address questions related to who is an appropriate candidate to receive PE

4. Review difficulties therapists are experiencing engaging their clients in PE  (i.e., how to present treatment and how to address   avoidance)

5. Discuss skills associated with creating in vivo hierarchies in PE

6. Provide advanced training in imaginal exposure and processing of traumatic memories
