This workshop is dedicated to updating and further advancing therapists’ skills when using Prolonged Exposure therapy for PTSD. We will provide an update of the research supporting PE and provide additional training in the areas of the treatment that therapists feel weakest around

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

  • Provide an updated review of the research behind PE
  • Review the core elements of PE
  • Address questions related to who is an appropriate candidate to receive PE
  • Review difficulties therapists are experiencing engaging their clients in PE (i.e., how to present treatment and how to address avoidance)
  • Discuss skills associated with creating in vivo hierarchies in PE
  • Provide advanced training in imaginal exposure and processing of traumatic memories

Intended Audience:

Therapists trained in PE through the trauma initiative of CBH/DBHIDS.
