The goal of the Advanced PTMS training: Protocols for Response to Suicide is to train credential acute trauma responders to be competent in the design, development and application of evidence-based and emerging practice models for psychological trauma recovery protocols that are specific to school and community environments with a strength based, developmentally focused approach to post incidents of suicide.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the epidemiology of suicide
  • Analyze the risk and protective factors associated with suicide attempts and completions
  • Describe the conditions and issues arising from the stigmatic deaths caused by suicide
  • Analyze the applications of Coping Groups post attempts and completions
  • Analyze PTSM Orientation and Stabilization Groups post attempts and completions
  • Describe the primary and secondary postvention-intervention and prevention initiatives to reduce suicides in among youth in Philadelphia
