This course will outline the connection between substance abuse and HIV disease. It will provide information about the fundamental principles unique to this dually impacted population. HIV transmission, development, symptoms and treatment options will be addressed. Risk Assessment,
risk reduction and health promotion counseling strategies will be discussed. The course format will include lecture, discussion, and experiential exercises.
This is a State mandated course for all providers of drug and alcohol related services. Others are welcome to attend.
Attendance of the full course as well as a completed evaluation is required. Participants who miss more than 30 minutes of class time (arriving late, leaving early, etc.) will not receive credit for having attended.
Also all participants MUST have a user profile set up on the DDAP Training Management System (TMS) prior to attending the class. Once there, please click on the "New User" link and follow the directions. You only need to set up your profile once on the TMS system. Should you have any trouble creating a profile or remembering your "user id" and "password", please call DDAP at 717-783-8200. Per state regulations, no one will be allowed entrance into the course without a profile prior to the day of the training.
