Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed in the 1980’s and was published as a manualized evidence based treatment in 1993. This course is designed to teach clinicians how to conceptualize a case, how to understand treatment and how to apply DBT in individual therapy, skills training, milieu coaching and in consultation teams. The course is one contiguous training delivered in 3 separate 3-day training sessions. The curriculum emphasizes case-based learning (clinical examples) and experiential learning (role-plays, exercises, homework, and video) in order to teach clinicians to fully implement the DBT model
By the end of this three-day training participants will be able to:
- Discuss the research behind DBT,
- Describe how to structure DBT treatment,
- Explain how to implement Diary Cards and Chain Analysis
This introductory level course is intended for invited clinicians in the DBT provider agencies network
