Grit, defined as perseverance to accomplish long-term or higher-order goals in the face of challenges, is not often discussed as a factor in youth success. This is unfortunate since Grit is essential for success and the ability to persist in the face of obstacles. This training will look at the nature of Grit and how it can be taught, learned, and practiced. This program is made possible by the PA Masonic Youth Foundation.
By the end of this workshop, participants will have:
- Examined the key components of Grit, including its measurement;
- Explored the use of technology to develop strategies in the development of Grit; and,
- Reviewed available resources.
This introductory level course, is designed for all professionals (behavioral health specialists, teachers, social workers, etc.) who work with young people. Parents are also welcomed. There are no prerequisites for this program.
Participants must attend entire presentation and complete a course evaluation in order to receive credits.
