This is a seven week professional development training series for staff who work in congregate Residential Service settings. The series will be facilitated using a professional development model based on Learning Community, which embraces many of the values of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed transformation. The series will provide an overview of transformations currently under way in Philadelphia’s Residential Service system, and teach trainees concepts and skills that will help them to work effectively in this changing context.
The Series learning objectives are:
- To become familiar with the current transformations taking place in Residential Services in Philadelphia
- To learn and/or reinforce Recovery concepts as they pertain to Residential Services
- To develop skills for implementing Recovery-oriented Residential Services
- To develop skills that are consistent with system transformation initiatives and priorities.
This series is intended for staff of congregate Residential Services for people living with behavioral health challenges in the City of Philadelphia. This is a professional development opportunity. We ask that those registered have the support of their supervisors to be freed from workplace responsibilities during the days that they are attending the training. We also ask that nobody register for this training if they will be working overnight shifts the night before the training sessions as fatigue will prevent effective learning.
Participants are expected to attend all 7 days of this training. If sessions are missed, trainees will not receive credits for the sessions missed. Because the series is understood to be a learning package, participants who miss more than two days will not be eligible to complete the series. Participants will also be expected to complete evaluations for each session and for the overall series.
