Young people today are overwhelmed with negative and harmful influences that create a “sea of mean” in their relationships with each other. Left to their own devices, they often cannot stop this downward spiral; the help and support of adults are necessary. This program will offer information and strategies for prevention and intervention against this “sea of mean”.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
- Review the current cultural norms and influences that encourage bullying and harassment among youth;
- Explore the use of social media to implement positive engagement among youth; and,
- Examine strategies to develop respectful & empathetic attitudes in young people.
This introductory level course, is designed for all professionals (behavioral health specialists, teachers, social workers, etc.) who work with young people. Parents are also welcomed.
