(WEBINAR) Creating an Affirming Environment for Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Service Users

This introductory level course provides an overview of appropriate language to use, and common experiences faced by transgender and gender non-conforming people. Up-to-date information on federal to local policies is presented, alongside descriptors of transphobia in community and service provider settings. Tangible actions that staff and organizations can take to provide an affirming environment for these service users are discussed.

Learning Objectives: 

1) List basic gender terminology and identify harmful myths.
2) Describe the challenges and barriers trans people face in the community and as service users.
3) Describe how affirming practices can be applied to your agency.

Intended Audience: 

Any behavioral health staff, as transgender and gender non-conforming people show up in all provider networks.
