Substance use and abuse can have long-term negative consequences for our youth. We know the earlier the onset of use, the greater the risk and consequences. Prevention is essential to address the risks of substance use and prevent the onset of substance abuse. This workshop will look at the research-based principles established to plan for and manage prevention efforts for youth through mentorships.
1. Describe the risks of substance use and abuse by youth.
2. Identify the benefits of mentoring youth in the prevention of substance use and abuse.
Social workers, agency staff, behavioral health agency staff, educators, and school staff.
Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within 7 days to receive a Certificate of Attendance.
