This interactive educational activity provides an overview and opportunity for participant discussion on the
development of comprehensive tobacco-free policy. Treatment modality and scope of services are taken
into consideration when reviewing sample narratives to define tobacco-free environments, employee
training and supports, and tobacco treatment integrated into existing client services. Recommendations
are designed to advance recovery-oriented interventions and implementation strategy to denormalize
tobacco use in the treatment setting.

Learning Objectives: 

• Describe eight content areas of a comprehensive tobacco-free policy.
• Describe three components of a tobacco-free policy implementation strategy and the related activities for each component.
