About This Course

Extraordinarily high numbers of students report being targeted for bullying, including cyber-bullying, both in and outside of school.  Bullying is a form of youth violence that can result in physical harm, emotional distress, and even death.  Targeted students are at increased risk for mental health issues, physical illnesses and poor academic performance.  Those who engage in bullying are at greater risk for substance-abuse            issues and greater violence later in life.  This program will examine the current realities contributing to the seriousness of bullying and suggest strategies for helping both targets and bullies.

Learning Objectives: 

By the end of this training, participants will have:

  • Defined bullying and listed associated behaviors;
  • Outlined short- & long-term effects of bullying;
  • Explained the connection between bullying and other forms of violence; and,
  • Listed the principles for effective intervention and prevention.


Intended Audience: 

This introductory level course, is designed for all professionals (behavioral health specialists, teachers, social workers, etc.) who work with young people.  Parents are also welcomed.  There are no prerequisites for this program.

Participants must attend entire presentation and complete a course evaluation in order to receive credits.
