About This Course
Supervison of direct service staff should include administrative, educational & supportive components, yet support for staff, a most important aspect, often gets the least effective attention. Reflective Supervision, a collaborative, trauma informed model, provides opportunities for thoughtful, goal directed suprvisory sessions that support workers in their professional decison-making while acknowledging and examining workers' repeated exposure to traumatic material from persons being served. Reflective Supervison, an invaluable tool, promotes worker well being, in turn promoting quality services.
By the end of this introductory overview presentation, participants will be able to:
• Define Reflective Supervision
• Name 2 of the 3 core components of Reflective Supervision
• List 2 benefits of Reflective Supervision
• Highlight barriers and opportunities with integrating Reflective Supervision into their Supervision and setting
• Present potential strategies for introducing this supervision and supporting staff in this manner.
• Discuss supervisory practices that will help integrate trauma informed thinking into ongoing supervision
This introductory course is designed for supervisory and management staff that supervise direct care workers and/or direct care supervisors in Behavioral Health and other human services settings. It was also presented in 2012 and March 2013.
