Student Sexual Aggression & Assault: Reality, Intervention, & Prevention

CE Type:
# of CE's:

About This Course

In the two years between 2014 and 2016, federal investigations into schools and their mishandling of sexual harassment and assault cases more than tripled. Few school personnel can identify the individual in their district responsible for the management of reports of sexual harassment and assault, and fewer still have received training addressing student sexual harassment and assault. This workshop will look at the current research addressing peer-on-peer sexual aggression and assaults occurring in schools, examine the role and responsibility of schools and agencies in addressing sexual aggression and assault, and review education and prevention models that include bystander intervention.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will have:
• Examined the most recent research addressing peer-on-peer sexual harassment and assault;
• Reviewed the recommended protocols for investigating student sexual harassment and assault;
• Learned the roles and requirements of schools and agencies addressing student sexual harassment and sexual assaults; and
• Outlined specific strategies for the education about, and the prevention and intervention into, student sexual harassment and assaults.
