(WEBINAR) Behavioral Counseling to Treat Tobacco Use Disorder in the Behavioral Health Setting
About This Course
Effective tobacco interventions in behavioral health comprise an integrated approach into ongoing care, combining pharmacotherapy, motivational enhancement interventions and cognitive-behavioral therapies tailored to the needs of smokers with mental and addictive disorders. This training provides a description of behavioral counseling strategies designed to enhance client motivation for tobacco abstinence and the development of an individualized tobacco recovery plan. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss
the practical application of the recommendations to their programming.
• Explain when to use brief versus intensive tobacco dependence treatment interventions in behavioral
health services
• Identify effective counseling strategy to enhance client motivation for tobacco abstinence
• Describe at least six coping strategies to assist with the development of an individualized tobacco
recovery plan
All employees who work in behavioral health services, including clinical and non-clinical staff, recovery peer specialists, interns, and volunteers.
Introductory, intermediate and advanced instructional level
Participants must complete both post test questions and evaluations in order to receive a CEU.
BHTEN is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.
As an IACET Accredited Provider, BHTEN offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard. BHTEN is authorized by IACET to offer CEUs for this program.
