About This Course

Current research into the substance use and abuse of youth indicates there is a decrease in certain substances among youth and an increase in others. There has also been a real decline in the perception of risk from using a number of substances by youth. This workshop will look at research and emerging drug trends among youth, as well as the teenage brain and addiction.

Learning Objectives: 

1. Outline recent research on drug trends among youth.
2. Describe the use and impact of synthetic marijuana and other substances.
3. Explain the short and long term impact of substance use.
4. Identify specific strategies for education and prevention of substance use among youth.

Intended Audience: 

Behavioral health provider staff,  educators, and school staff

Participants must attend entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation to receive credits and a certificate.
