About This Course
The DIY Storiez intervention, an adapted version of the full trauma narrative process is a 9-step framework to assist urban youth as they create, voice, and honor their abbreviated life narratives with support of behavioral health clinicians and direct service staff, teachers, program leaders, coaches, and other community resources. The presentation begins with an introduction to trauma focusing on urban youth. The intervention is presented using didactic material, video content, and participatory activities.
- Discuss the prevalence and impact of trauma on urban youth.
- Describe nine steps to implement when helping a trauma survivor create their trauma narrative.
- Identify culturally sensitive, strengths-based strategies to support youth in creating, voicing, and honoring their narratives.
Community leaders/re-sources (teachers, mentors, behavioral health and other human services staff, etc.) that interface with urban youth.
Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within 7 days to receive a Certificate of Attendance.

BHTEN is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.
