About This Course

Empathy is a natural phenomenon in humans that promotes social cohesion and group formation.  But what happens when that process becomes faulty?  Intergroup empathy can be a mechanism that underlies racism and prejudice.  Understanding this process and some of the biases that our minds can engage in can be helpful in counteracting these harmful thought processes.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Identify how empathy promotes group living and social cohesion.
  2. Define intergroup empathy bias and identify how this impacts interactions with others.
  3. List strategies for decreasing intergroup empathy bias.

Participants must attend entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates will be emailed to participants within 30 business days of training. Certificates of Attendance will be available to download from the Learning Hub once the evaluation is successfully submitted.

Credit Statements:
