About This Course

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is often associated with Veterans, and rightly so. The Department of Veteran’s Affairs indicates that about 30% of veterans who have encountered traumatic experiences have PTSD. However, PTSD can occur at any age. Some researchers estimate that 40% of children and adolescents will experience at least one traumatic event, and while many will bounce back, others will have difficulty coping with the trauma and the memory of that experience. This workshop will review current research focused on PTSD and Acute Stress Disorder in youth, discuss causes of PTSD, look at the warning signs and symptoms of PTSD in children and teens, talk about the other effects of trauma on children, and look at how to address PTSD in youth
