(WEBINAR) Stigma & Substance Use: Confronting the Issue

About This Course

Stigma has harmful impacts on the wellbeing and recovery of people with substance use disorders. Despite this, stigma is often unintentionally perpetuated by behavioral health agencies and staff. This introductory course will provide an overview of where stigma originates, how it can negatively affect service user outcomes and self-determination, and how agencies and staff can confront stigma.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Describe how stigma harms client outcomes and self determination
  2. Identify ways staff and agencies perpetuate stigma
  3. List 3 ways you can address harmful stigma
Intended Audience: 

Behavioral health staff of all levels in the drug and alcohol field.

Completion Requirements: 

Participants must attend entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within 7 days of training to receive a certificate. Certificates of Attendance will be available to download from the Learning Hub once the evaluation is successfully submitted.

Credit Statements: 

No CE's are being offered for this course. Certificates of Attendance will be awarded via the LMS once the Evaluation has been completed within 7 days of the training.
