About This Course
Trauma is a significant public health concern and the need to address it is viewed as an important component of effective behavioral health service delivery (SAMSHA, 2014). This training will explore the foundational principles of trauma by defining, illustrating different types of trauma and explain the neurological process of trauma. The training will also offer solutions for a trauma informed approach which will includes the 6 Guiding principles to a trauma informed approach and how to support trauma informed workplace.
• Participants will be able to identify what trauma is, its statistical prevalence and learn to recognize signs and symptoms.
• Identify the neurological implications of trauma, generational trauma and historic trauma integration
• Explore resilience factors and the utilization of empathy as a tool.
• Discuss strategies for implementing trauma informed practices.
Participants Must Attend Entire Session & Submit a Completed Course Evaluation to Receive Continuing Education Credits. Participants are also encouraged to respond to curriculum follow-up surveys.
