Specific Responsibilities:
The agency is currently operating on a hybrid schedule, subject to change — two days in the office and three days working from home.
The Behavioral Health Training Specialist (Trauma-Focused) is responsible for researching, planning, and implementing educational events related to the treatment, service provision, and recovery of individuals with behavioral health needs.
This Training Specialist will play a key role in designing and delivering trauma-informed and trauma-focused trainings for behavioral health professionals working with individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. The specialist will apply trauma-informed principles throughout their work and ensure that trainings are culturally responsive and relevant to the communities being served.
The Training Specialist will utilize knowledge of the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) to facilitate adult continuing education opportunities, both in-person and virtually.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identify training needs and conduct focus groups to inform the DBHIDS training system
- Develop educational materials and content on trauma-focused and system-identified topics
- Facilitate interactive trainings, workshops, and supportive learning activities
- Deliver content through both in-person and virtual training platforms
- Assist with planning and implementing behavioral health conferences and events
- Provide technical assistance to behavioral health providers and system partners
- Collaborate with and provide training to identified community groups
- Remain current and comply with continuing education regulations and credentialing standards
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the Program Director, Executive Director, or designee
Skills Required:
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of trauma-focused approaches in behavioral health
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong training development and facilitation skills
- Proficiency with virtual training platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective interpersonal skills and knowledge of group dynamics
Accountability:
The Behavioral Health Training Specialist reports to the Program Director of the Behavioral Health Training and Education Network.
Position Requirements:
- Philadelphia residency is preferred but not required
- Master’s degree in a behavioral health-related field; preference given to candidates with clinical licensure (LSW, LPC, LMFT, CPRP, etc.)
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in a behavioral health setting
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering trauma-informed/focused trainings
- Ability to independently learn and use presentation technology
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Ability to work 37.5 hours per week
- Ability to travel within, and occasionally outside of, Philadelphia
