About This Course

Grit, defined as “perseverance to accomplish long-term, or higher-order goals in the face of challenges and setbacks”, is not often discussed as a factor in student success. It should be. Grit is essential for success at long term goals and the ability to persist in the face of obstacles, difficulties and challenges. Grit can play a significant role in overcoming adversity and setbacks, even severe ones. More importantly, grit can be taught, learned and practiced. This workshop will look at exactly what grit is, and the characteristics of grit.
