About This Course
Adolescent Substance Use 101 – The teenage years are a time of exploration and growing independence. This brings growth but can also bring risk, including the risk of substance use concerns. In this course, we’ll review the ways substance use and addiction may present during adolescent and define the risk factors, protective factors, and warning signs that may impact those adolescents most at risk for substance use.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain how adolescent brain development impacts substance abuse;
- Identify at least one risk factor substance use disorder (or SUDs) and at least one protective factor against Substance Use Disorders;
- Outline how the stages of addiction may be experienced in the adolescent development stage.
- List at least 2 warning signs of adolescent substance use.

Completion Requirements:
Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.
