About This Course
The bullying our youth experience often comes from a bias based on a real or perceived difference in someone. That bias can be based on appearance, how someone speaks, racial and cultural differences, a disability, body shape, sexual orientation or gender identity or any other difference. Targets of bias-based bullying had a greater fear of being harmed, avoided school more frequently and had significantly negative effects on their physical, psychological and academic well-being.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will learn about the types of bias-based bullying;
- Attendees will gain an understanding of the impact of bias-based bullying;
- Participants will gain knowledge about specific methods to intervene in bias-based bullying;
- Attendees will learn prevention strategies and resources.
Intended Audience:
Educators, school staff, & behavioral health provider agency staff.

Completion Requirements:
Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.

BHTEN is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.
As an IACET Accredited Provider, BHTEN offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard. BHTEN is authorized by IACET to offer CEUs for this program.

As an Education Consultant and Trainer, Deborah has provided in-depth bullying and sexual harassment, cyber-bullying, and youth & social media workshops and seminars. She has worked for 35 years in the fields of education and training, focusing on bullying, cyberbullying, sexual harassment, threat assessment and school climate and safety. Deborah previously worked for the PA Department of Education, in the Division of Safe & Drug-Free Schools as a Regional Coordinator, providing guidance and assistance to Student Assistance Programs in the eastern part of the state.
