About This Course

This training is an extension from our foundation training Cultivating Organizations to Thrive: Intro to Organizational Development.  The purpose of this training is to instruct leaders on Organizational Development Strategic Planning. Strategic planning is very fluid and dynamic in practice, but an effective and collaborative approach that will prevent a reactionary state in organizations and promote “pro-activeness”. Strategic Plans are more than just goals, they are tangible iterative steps on how to reach that goal with considering all the stakeholders involved, funding, politics, mission and vision, values, and organizational culture capacity to meet those goals. Organizations with strong strategic planning capabilities are more resilient and can be more effective, innovative, have greater influence on their communities and within their organization. Strategic Planning ensures the effort is headed in the right direction and produces measurable outcomes. We will go over a case study, introduce two strategic planning models, teach about the paradox of strategic planning, and ask participants to materialize and apply the training lessons to their own work strategic planning.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the impact of strategic planning
  2. Able to understand the paradox of strategic planning
  3. Apply one of the strategic models to your organization/department/project
  4. Assess culture in your organization for readiness of strategic planning
