About This Course
This interactive training provides mental health professionals with a comprehensive foundation in ethics and professional boundaries within recovery-oriented service settings. Participants will explore the definition and importance of ethics and boundaries in mental health practice and develop a practical understanding of core ethical principles including autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, justice, fidelity, and veracity. The course examines common ethical dilemmas encountered in recovery-based services and offers insight into the ethical standards set by major professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and the American Counseling Association (ACA). Participants will also focus on critical issues such as confidentiality, informed consent, and the management of dual relationships. A structured approach to ethical decision-making will be introduced and applied throughout the course using real-world scenarios. Engaging, hands-on learning activities such as case studies, role-plays, and interactive quizzes will reinforce key concepts and allow participants to practice applying ethical reasoning in complex situations.
