About This Course

Participants will develop a foundational understanding of the impact of identity trauma and how it presents itself in a clinical setting. This talk creates intentional space for the BIPOC experience, as well as, the LGBTQ+ experience. Participants will be able to identify parallels between racial/cultural trauma and trauma related to gender and sexual identity.

This talk provides a foundational understanding of trauma, giving participants a set of tools and strategies that inform clinical practice. The talk will teach participants how to evolve beyond trauma-informed practice from assessment to treatment, incorporating ethical and cultural considerations, the impact of trauma over the life span, and how to provide support to direct care staff.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Participants will learn trauma tools and strategies for clinical practice.
  2. Participants will learn the ethical, developmental, and cultural impact on trauma.
  3. Participants will learn skills on how to provide constructive and meaningful support for supervisees and direct care staff
  4. Participants will also learn how historical trauma can be present in navigating daily and new stressors that presents itself as microaggressions.

Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.

BHTEN is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.
As an IACET Accredited Provider, BHTEN offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.  BHTEN is authorized by IACET to offer CEUs for this program.
