About This Course
When working with PTSD, some traumas will include the loss of a loved one. In these cases, differentiating between PTSD and grief reactions to the loss has important treatment implications. In this workshop, Dr. Sandy Capaldi will discuss this differential diagnosis, reviewing the definitions of bereavement, mourning, and grief; discussing the dual processes and types of grief; reviewing the diagnostic criteria for PTSD and Prolonged Grief Disorder; and discussing evidence-based therapeutic techniques to treat both.

- Identify symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Identify symptoms of Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD)
- Recognize differences between PTSD and PGD
- Discuss evidence-based treatments for PTSD and PGD
Intended Audience:
Licensed Mental Health Professionals or those working under a licensed mental health professional who have training in and familiarity with trauma, PTSD and grief.

Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.
