About This Course

This workshop addresses sexting, sexual bullying and sextortion in digital speech and the resulting mental health issues and legal consequences. Participants will review the current research and trends focusing on youth’s involvement with technology, sexting and sextortion. Digital speech affords our youth the ability to send images via texting and a wide variety of apps popular among them. Exactly how involved are youth in sexting and sextortion? How prevalent is sexual bullying among adolescents and pre-teens? This workshop will answer those questions and also examine recommended protocols for investigation and interventions, as well as how to effectively educate youth about sexing, sexual bullying and sextortion. physical health.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Participants will learn about sexting, sexual bullying and sextortion.
  • Attendees will gain an understanding of the impact on the mental health of youth involved in sexting and sextortion.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the legal consequences of sexting and sextortion;
  • Attendees will learn how to provide assistance to youth involved in sexting, sexual bullying and sextortion.

Completion Requirements: 

Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.
