About This Course

Mobile mental health applications offer a wide array of opportunities to support clients and therapists in achieving their clinical goals. With the rapid expansion in available apps and novelty of these tools, however, it can feel unclear how to select and incorporate mental health apps into treatment effectively. This training will explain why therapists might choose to augment treatment with mental health apps before instructing participants in assessing key factors and utilizing them with clients.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Describe recent trends and evidence supporting the use of MH apps in treatment
  2. Explain why a therapist might choose to incorporate MH apps into treatment
  3. Assess key considerations when selecting a MH App to use with a client
  4. Instruct appropriate clients in utilizing a MH App to augment treatment
  5. Utilize available resources to select and implement MH Apps into treatment when appropriate

Completion Requirements: 

Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.

2.0 CE credit hours for Psychologists awarded.  BHTEN is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  BHTEN maintains responsibility for this program and its content

Colin Adamo, PhD earned his doctorate from the University of Utah’s Clinical Psychology doctoral program. After completing a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Psychiatry, he joined the Penn Collaborative for CBT and Implementation Science as a postdoctoral fellow. At the Penn Collaborative, Adamo’s work focuses on artificial intelligence-based tools to support supervision and fidelity in evidence-based mental health practices, particularly in community mental health settings. His clinical research interests lie at the intersection of interventions for couples and digital mental health technology.
