Peter Spayde

DBHIDS

As a Certified Peer Specialist, Peter loves to share his lived and work experience.  He has worked as a CPS Advocate in the Crisis Center & Acute Psychiatric Unit of Einstein Hospital, where he facilitated and advocated with groups & individuals in adult & geriatric populations.  He then moved to the Institute for Recovery at Mental Health Partnerships where he specialized in training and learning management systems.  Peter is now a Community Training Specialist with DBHIDS, where he supports the Learning HUB and continues the training efforts of the department.  He develops and facilitates training related to Peer Culture, Narcan Overdose Reversal and other community education initiatives.  Peter enjoys laughing, dancing, eating, travel, film, video games, tennis, yoga, cooking, gardening and spending time with his given and chosen family (including his cats Linda & Possum). In his spare time, Peter volunteers within Recovery and LGBTQ communities.  He has a commitment to remaining teachable and loves to try new things. Peter proudly focuses on improving services and bringing Peer Culture to our community and systems.
