About This Course

This interactive training series is targeted at behavioral health providers who work with individuals with justice-involvement. Participants will engage in a 4-week blended learning course consisting of live webinars, pre-recorded webinars and self-guided e-learning modules. These courses, many of which have been developed by members of the Drexel psychology department, will help providers to better understand and serve the special forensic considerations for their individuals. Participants will be able to complete self-guided material on their own schedule.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Recognize the levels of the Sequential Intercept Model and identify resources available at each intercept point.
  • Understand how criminogenic thinking impacts individuals with justice-involvement.
  • Identify risk factors and protective factors for recidivism.
  • Recognize considerations for individuals falling within a special forensic population.

Completion Requirements: 

Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.

Credit Statements:

BHTEN is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.
As an IACET Accredited Provider, BHTEN offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.  BHTEN is authorized by IACET to offer CEUs for this program.

12.0 CE credit hours for Psychologists awarded.  BHTEN is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  BHTEN maintains responsibility for this program and its content

Jaymes Fairfax-Columbo, JD, PhD is a clinical-forensic psychologist. He currently serves as the Policy, Planning, and Development Supervisor for the Behavioral Health and Justice Division of the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services. He supports planning, implementation, and quality assurance of City initiatives designed to address the intersection of behavioral health and the criminal justice system. Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. There, he was also the Training Director for the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Forensic Psychology. He is also a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Drexel University.
